Note: This RP is closed off. Feel free to watch or observe! The Rytz-Rutz Border11:00PM local time Another boring night along the border, 2 watchmen walked along the fence on the Ruzzle side. "So how's the wife?" one of the men says, trying to keep up small talk. "More or less, she's come down with a fever recently." his friend replied, noticing something off in the distance in Ryzzle. It looked a lot like a huge dust cloud. "Pass me the binoculars, you see that cloud over there too?"
When he had a look, all he could see was the dust cloud that had seemingly just showed up somewhere in the Rytz desert. "Just the wind..." he says to himself, putting his binoculars down.
Moments later, jet engines and the sound of propellers could be heard in the distance. Within seconds, the sky was filled with Rytz aircraft that had started to bombard the Rutz border defenses, what few they had. Paratroopers dropped down in the hundreds upon the border, mercilessly gunning down any and all border officers, most of which were unarmed. Behind them, T-14 tanks and other infantry vehicles roared to the border, tearing down the flimsy fences the pushing forward.
The President of Ruzzle, Dima Boleslav, gave a speech several hours later announcing that a state of war once again exists between the Free Republic of Ruzzle and The Kingdom of Ryzzle.

State Intelligence Service (SIS) Headquarters - National Defense Center - Westminster, the Hackleberry Islands
9:17 A.M. Local Time
- - - An atmosphere of confusion and permeable fear had descended over Westminster, the capital of the Hackleberry Islands. Computer screens and TV monitors around SIS Headquarters flickered with news reports, talk shows, military radar observations, and raw binary code as men and women in blazers and suits rushed around the complex with manilla folders in hand, pushing and shoving through others to reach their destination. In the central chamber, a TV sat at the center wall of the room, beneath it resting over 20 computer and radar systems lined up in a row, with SIS agents and military officers seated at each one. The conference table in the center of the room was occupied with men and women quietly whispering to each other, as a man at the head of the table looked on at the TV with a mused expression. "Mr. President, we're ready to perform the override at your command, sir." A voice called out from beneath the TV at a computer, with a large [send transmission] icon at the center of the monitor. The agent looked at him, in conjunction with the other men and women at the conference table. President Hackett straightened his tie, sat up in his chair, and fastened his gaze at the TV in front of the conference table. "Air the alert." - - - "This is HNN Television broadcasting from Westminster. Normal programming has been suspended. Please stand by, and await further information." TVs and radios across the nation suddenly stopped in the middle of whatever they'd been playing, switching to receive the incoming Emergency Broadcast from HNN News; the nation's biggest news source, having signed a charter with the government to take control of the airwaves in the event of an emergency. From the warm sunlit sandbars of the Tide Isles, to the bustling French-speaking communities on Crescent Island, every TV and radio had stopped in the middle of whatever program it had been airing to receive the alert. After the above alert repeated a few times, a calm male voice began to speak. "This is HNN ONE. Once again, we're sorry to interrupt your programming, but at the request of the government, all television channels and radio stations will now be overridden. We will now be joining HNN World News, for an important news update." Every TV screen in the nation suddenly switched over to HNN World News, with scrolling dialogue in English and French below the main image of the anchors behind the desk, who'd begun to speak. "Good morning. This is HNN World News, bringing you an important news update from Soltarem. SIS has reported that the nation of Ryzzle has begun an invasion of Ruzzle, located to the north. This attack occurred at approximately 11pm local time last night, at the easternmost border checkpoint between the two nations." People watching looked on in horror as images of Rutz checkpoints being destroyed in violent fireballs and clouds of artillery fire aired. Many citizens wondered why the government would override every TV channel and radio station in the country to tell people about a war between two other nations seemingly oceans away. The reporter continued. "Rutz President Dima Boleslav has stated that the two nations are officially at war with one another. The Senate has issued an emergency recall order to halt all cargo vessels and ships located on Soltarian shipping routes, and has warned all citizens of the Hackleberry Islands, as well as all of the other nations of Western Arcadia to remain vigilant of the conflict occurring between Ryzzle and Ruzzle, citing that the conflict has the potential to spread."
After a few minutes of the same information repeating, the cycle broke, with one of the anchors stating, "And that marks the end of the broadcast override. You will now be returned to the channel or radio station you were previously watching or listening to. If you want more information, do stick with us here at HNN World News. But from all of us here at HNN World News, thank you for listening to this extraordinary news update." The transmission ceased, and almost immediately, TV channels and programmes resumed as if there'd never been a delay at all.

OOC: Apologies in advance for the odd format this will be in, I'm doing this on my tablet and I'm sure you can guess how unruly it is when selecting center and italics and whatnot.
IC:
Setting: A small border town 17 miles away from the border.
The once quiet town was bustling with military vehicles and soldiers as the Rutz army prepared to meet the enemy at the border and start fighting effectively. Despite these basic goals, the army was very behind schedule, a total of 3 hours late on the whole front, they were underequipped and outdated compared to their modern counterpart. This didn't seem to bother many of the people, after all with their independence since the 1980s they can't help but feel invincible.
Many of the soldiers mingled with the locals, talking about just that. "These Rytz with their fancy guns, they think they can defeat us. No way, no how." a soldier told a young woman as if trying to impress her. "With enough bullets and drinks, we can hold'm off." The young smiled humbly, looking out to the fields and farms surrounding the town, keeping her gaze on a little hill that overlooked the town and that was also facing Ryzzle.
Only seconds later, a bomb came screaming down from the sky, obliterating an entire section of the town and taking innocent people and soldiers with it, causing mayhem throughout the town as the army tried to evacuate civilians. Soon after, a column of T-14's rolled up over the hill, and started firing down at the town. Infantry followed suit, running down the hill and taking positions at the base. As they ran down, they would fire at everyone who tried to fight back- or stay. Men, women, and children would all face the same fate when presented with the Rytz onslaught....
Setting: Novi-Luka, Presidents Home "Sir, the first foreign country to respond was The Hackleberry Islands. They have so far done no military action, but their citizens are well informed of the war." an aide told President Dima. DIma, although grateful, was slightly ticked off at the overwhelming lack of help so far. "Sir?" the aide says, Dima had drifted for a moment. "Good, good...thank you." Dima waved the aide away. He sighed, thinking now of what could be done....

"So, we have the attention of the nation. They know what's going on. So, what are we going to do about it?" an officer at the conference table said, finally breaking the tangible silence that lingered over it. He looked around eagerly for a reply.
"It's clear that the Senate's gonna flip out and say 'This isn't our fight! Everything's normal!' and spin its own wheels. Without the approval of the Senate, there isn't much we can do." Another officer said. The Senate was notorious for actually getting things done; but it was often absolute in keeping Hacklet principles, one of which was neutrality.
"But innocent lives are at risk here! We can't just abandon millions of people with guns pointed at their heads, ready to fire!"
"It's not like we can just march on over across the Arcadian Ocean with 20 warships and begin firing artillery over at Ryzzle. I'm pretty sure they'd hit us back just as hard. The MEF would also find an excuse to attack us afterwards. It's unfeasible." The table erupted in arguments, people yelling across it to get their point heard.
"What if what methods of aid we executed were kept secret?" All of the officers turned around to the President, who had never actually spoken up since they'd aired the alert, acting very out-of-character. He got up from his chair, and began to pace the room in front of the conference table.
"Let's face it, aside from sending supplies, there isn't much we can do to help Ruzzle in the public eye as of right now. But, SIS has the capability to take action for the safety of the nation and for the survival of innocent people if proper approval is given by the executive branch of government, which is my approval, even without the military. We can present a directive to the Senate, and we can conduct an immediate referendum on whether any action should be taken for the general public. If it's approved, we send soldiers to the Rutz border to solidify it, and attempt to mediate the conflict and end the killing." Many of the officers looked confused about what the President was talking about.
"In secret, maybe we can get Roffgan's administration in Samukan and King Brian's Cabinet to help us. We could put SIS in charge of a possible attempt to weaken, or even secretly take action against the Rytz government if it refuses to stop its invasion of Ruzzle." The table stayed silent as the President continued on. He turned towards a secretary taking notes at the table.
"Send a report to HNN. We're going to be sending aid to Ruzzle, and that we harshly condemn the Rytz attack, and are going to try to mediate the conflict. Present the idea of military action to the Senate, and conduct a voting referendum on the topic with a three day voting period, starting immediately. If it passes, we'll send the military in to help guard the Rutz border regions, and try to mediate the conflict. However, contact the Rutz government, and the governments of the Bagel Lands, the Sandwich Territories, and Samukan and request for an impromptu conference. If no peaceful solution presents itself to end this conflict, we may need to take action in secrecy." The President returned to his chair, with the faces of 20 terrified defense officers staring at him.

Spaztislavia Today, Midday news Spaztislavia Today, with a special report! We have breaking news from Ruzzle, located on the northernmost point of Soltarem. The president, Dima Boleslav announced that the Kingdom of Ryzzle declared war on the Republic of Ruzzle. The Hackleberry Islands have aired an emergency broadcast to inform their population. There is still no official report on the course of action they are going to take. Our president, Mr. Voldzicky has announced that while we will remain neutral, we condemn the actions of the Kingdom of Ryzzle. Spaztislavia National Network will send reporters to the area in order to have direct access to any evolution in the conflict. The government has still not given any word on the sending of aid, but it is rumoured that the Parliament is discussing it at the moment, as they declared an extraordinary session was going to be taking place an hour ago. Passing on to weather, we have been enduring the coldest days of the century, is this the coming of another little ice age? More at 3pm.

"Those Rytz have never learned to bugger off...no respect for change or the status quo, I say..."
"Indeed. Time being your scribe, sir."
"For years, they've called themselves a kingdom, but what they have over there in Soltarem is no proper monarchy...truly it is a vile dictatorship at this point..."
*doors open, people enter*
*Saluting* "SMI Alfa Stigma, reporting, sir!"
"Lieutenant Stafford Strudwick, reporting, sir!"
"General Ross McNiel; at ease Alfa Stigma, Strudwick. Care for a drink, lads?"
"If you offer me a scotch and plain water, I'll drink scotch and plain water."
"That a boy, Lieutenant. Get it yourself like a good chap, would you? The bar is in the globe."
"Something for yourself, sir?"
"Whiskey, straight; no junk in it."
"And you, AS, sir?"
"Scotch; whisper. No need for the cracked ice, sir."
*Strudwick goes over to the globe*
"Strudwick, it says here that you are an expert, in the Rytz media sector."
"I've had a bit of experience with it myself, yes."
"Tell me, what did you do before joining the armed forces?"
"I was a regional television and movie analyst."
"List your accomplishments."
"Well sir, such as they are, I wrote reviews and articles for publication in news outlets such as the Carrick-on-Sea Tribune and the National Outpost, and I've had two books published."
"Hm, impressive. Well, don't be modest now, lieutenant, what are their titles?"
*Carrying the drinks to the General and SMI AS* "The first book was called 'A Study of the Movie Industry of Monarchical States in the 1920s', and the second one was called, 'The Art of Media in the 20th Century of Kennan'. It's a sub-textual film criticism study of the works of film directors such as Marcus Warren and Đuro Leroy. What should we drink to, sirs?"
"Well, uhm...down with Kennan tyranny."
"All the way down, sirs."
*Cheers and the necking of said pints ensues*
"Strudwick, are you familiar with Rytz media under the current Czar, Velimir Dragomir?"
"Well, yes; I haven't payed too much attention to the works coming out of Ryzzle recently, but I'm familiar with them."
"Explain it to me."
"...How, sir?"
"Well, this little escapade we're cooking up requires some knowledge of the Rytz media under the current Czar. Explain to me, how far (has it gone), under Dragomir's rule?"
"Dragomir tends to have quite the influence over the nation as a whole, and the media shows as a result. All of the enterprise in Ryzzle is government or state owned, and many aspects of life in Ryzzle is controlled by the government with quite the iron fist, such as the religion of the people and the educational systems in the nation. This, in turn, has further been shown in the media of the nation, which is highly nationalistic and moralistic without doubt. It feels like the Rytz government considers their works to be important to the social views of the citizens of Ryzzle; an alternative to what they probably consider to be the Sandwichian and Hackle intellectual media, and the mainland controlled dogma over regional cultural showings."
Over in the corner, rather unnoticed and quiet, is Prime Minister Al Fresco, with a cigar in hand.
"How's he doing?"
*Surprised* "Frightfully sorry sir! Once again?"
"You say he wants to take on the Sandwichsphere? At their own game? Compared to say, Christopher Bogosian (considered to be the leader in the industry of Kazari documentaries), how's he doing?"
"Quite well, actually. Since the Rytz state really clamped down on the national media, audience numbers for things such as government produced news, television shows, and movies has steadily risen. But, Christopher Bogosian wouldn't be the Rytz government's proper opposite number. I believe that Dragomir and the government sees themselves closer to Arthur Sigurðsson (leading figure in Caledonian news).
Al Fresco takes a few moments to smoke his cigar, and finally notes:
"Brief them."

The Situation Room in the Presidential Estate is a well furnished conference room. A long hardwood conference table stands in the middle of the room, surrounded by a dozen or so leather chairs. At the moment, the chairs were filled by high-level Samukani government officials. President Tobias Roffgan sat at the head of the table, listening intently to the counsel of his Cabinet and advisers. The Secretary of Defense was wrapping up his summary of the military intelligence on the Rytz-Rutz conflict.
"While the Samukani Armed Forces have enough firepower to strong-arm the situation," he said, "it would have unpredictable consequences for both foreign relations and the health status of our soldiers."
"Thank you, Mr. Beravald," Roffgan said. "Mr. Alkotrozz, what do you think?"
The Secretary of State looked at Roffgan. "Samukan currently doesn't have powerful reputation to strong-arm something like this. If we get involved, we'll need to have a limited military presence. We also need some strong justification for anything we try. You know how the others get about sovereignty."
"What would be the cost of not getting involved?"
"Well, we would lose a good amount of support, both domestically and internationally, for not preventing human rights abuses. We've been building up the military, but that will seem more suspicious if we don't use it for humanitarian purposes."
Roffgan stood up. The others rose in response. "We need to have a reputation of being the heroes. I'll discuss covert operations later. For now, I need to make a statement. The press have been clamoring for hours now..." He walked out of the Situation Room, followed by the others.
As Roffgan walked through the halls of the Presidential Estate, his Chief of Staff, Josh Meralin fell in next to him. "Anna just finished the statement," he reported. "Anise just opened the Press Room, so you have five minutes."
"No rest for the weary, huh?" Roffgan smiled.
"You are the President, sir. Oh, also -- Hackleberry's on board for covert ops. We'll have their support at least."
"Great. If Hackleberry's with us, then we're probably doing the right thing."

Chez Gervais, Valais Commune, Crescent Island, the Hackleberry Islands10:24 AM Local Time "Est-ce que vous voudriez du lait et du creme dans son cafe?"
"Ne du lait, ni du creme, merci! J'aime mon cafe noir."
Business was buzzing as per usual at Chez Gervais, a famous cafe that nestled itself into the heart of downtown Valais, a town inside Cardeaux Canton; Cardeaux Canton contributed itself to the French Autonomous Special Administration Cantons, which took up the bulk of the southern half of Crescent Island. Life here, while connected to the rest of the English speaking nation, had its own special "zing" to it that was hard to describe. The problem of a language barrier essentially didn't exist (Most English and French speaking Hacklets are either bilingual or have a good knowledge of the other language). Both Crescent French and Sandwichian English Hacklets were very similar in their respective dispositions; both were excessively polite & friendly, loved their cafes, and had peculiar cravings for sugar. Neither language group felt isolated from the other. English Hacklets liked French Hacklets, and vice versa. Both were content with their respective government (Although if a figure had an ability for French, or at least knew the basics, they'd get a slight advantage in popularity in the French Cantons). And the quality of life between both speakers didn't waver.
However, this zing to life was described in the French Cantons as "like living inside a Rockwell painting", meaning that life was slow, and "filling". English Hacklets were known to always have places to go, always wanting to see new things and keep themselves busy. French Hacklets, conversely, took life very slowly, taking it as it comes, almost never being in a rush. This meant that people could occupy cafe tables for hours, watching life go on as they sipped their coffee. World events were rare to hear about while sitting in a French Hacklet cafe. Unless it was extremely important, people liked to lose themselves in the cafe, watching people walk by or have long conversations with friends.
Which was why it was so shocking to see every TV in the cafe tuned into HNN World News, with everyone's eyes glued to them.
"This is HNN World News, serving Cardeaux, with an important news update. President Hackett has just announced that the Hackleberry Islands will be sending troops over to the Rutz border to halt the Rytz invasion that was announced a few days ago. The Senate approved the directive late last night, combined with an overwhelming "yes" response from the general public's referendum. He stated in a press conference that 'The Hackleberry Islands, alongside Samukan, will be sending soldiers to secure the Rutz border. Ruzzle has asked for help from the unprovoked attack by its neighbor. And while neutrality is a core Hacklet principle, we can't turn a blind eye away from the violent and horrific massacres occurring in border towns where the Rytz have advanced towards. The screams and cries of thousands of men, women, and children must be heard. It's time to act.'
The patrons of the cafe sipped their coffee, and some were seen nodding along with the speech. The report ended with: "Soldiers and medics will be sent to the border today with the Samukani military in a few short hours. They are expected to arrive before nightfall."

OOC: Odd format once again, my tablet is unforgiving
IC: Setting: Dimly lit room in an unknown location.
A woman was strapped to a chair in front of a small wooden table. She had been there for several days now, only getting a small glass of water and some rice to eat for food once everyday. Whenever she looked around the room, she could see that the wall were dashed with blood, and even some handprints or tally marks counting up the last days of someone's life. The large metal door at the front of the room swung open, revealing a special forces officer and 2 regular soldiers. While he took off his leather gloves, the officer spoke, "Once and once only. Will you speak, woman?". Defiant as always, she scowls and spits at the officers shoes. "I never knew they let girls into your army, shows how savage your nation is without us." he gestures to the other soldiers.
The officer would leave the soldiers and the woman alone. The unspeakable actions going on in the room would produce hellish screams that lasted a whole night, and would scar the woman for life. Assuming she'd ever out. Like her friends in the Rutz army, she'll be sent to camps in the desert to live out her end days.
Setting: Novi-Luka, presidential building
"What is the situation..." Dima asks grimly to his three generals; the general of the Army, Army Air Corps, and the Navy.
"Sir, they're blazing through the countryside in a rapid advance towards the....capital... In total they are 324 miles in Rutz interior." the army general says with a hint of desperation.
"The Air Corps is....nonexistent, sir. All of our aircraft have been swatted down easily due to our...the fact that we have little defenses against aerial attacks. The Rytz Air Force owns the skies above our side of the continent now..." the army air corps general got up, saluted, and left.
"Neither of our Navies have seen any action yet. But I must admit, their sea defenses are some of the best we've seen." the navy general says.
Dima couldn't believe it. "Several foreign countries have vowed to..'secure Rutz borders', whatever that means..." he says as he shakes his head. "How many casualties have we taken?"
"483,034 killed, wounded, MIA or taken prisoner." the army general says in reply.
DIma was shocked, cringing for a moment. "Civilians?"
"In the hundreds of thousands also, and it may surpass our military casualties."
As Dima was about to speak, he heard the sound of a jet engine in the distance. They all get up and look outside to see a Rytz fighter-bomber screaming towards them.
"Get to the bunker!!" they run towards a secret route and get to the bunker, being sheltered by the ongoing bombardment.
"I thought they were far away!" Dima shouts.
"Not anymore..."

IC: Setting: Belgrade (which is basically like a Dubai, because desert), specifically the royal palace.
The Czar, in all his decadence, was sat upon his throne in front of several of his generals. "How goes it?" he calmly asks.
"We have advanced deep into the Rutz interior, knocked out their air forces, and have taken thousands prisoner." a general says, looking at his peers.
"The capital is now under bombardment by our planes, and within the next few hours we should have the first tanks and other vehicles besiege the city. All in all this should be over in about 5 days."
The Czar was greatly pleased, stroking his moustache in approval.
"Although foreign military may get involved, what do we do then?" a general asked the Czar.
"Simple, any foreign military presence is an act of war and will be annihilated." (I had to cut it short because my tablet was low on batter, so just one last thing)
The fact that any foreign intervention will be seen as war is not announced publicly.

Presidential Office - Westminster, the Hackleberry Islands
8:28 PM Local Time
--- "We've got some news for you, Mr. President." A general approached President Hackett with a panicked expression. He simply nodded. "Apparently... there are no more borders to protect. Ryzzle has advanced hundreds of miles into the interior areas of Ruzzle. Border regions effectively don't exist anymore." The President's reaction was nothing more than a jaw clench. "Thank you for the update, General." The President turned to face the window in his office. Ryzzle was moving extremely quickly through the desert to approach the Rutz capital. Even the military wouldn't have the speed to move against Ryzzle fast enough to protect the Rutz capital. They needed to buy some time. Any amount of time. Even only 12 hours would give him enough time to scramble the Air Force, or even send an ultimatum to Ryzzle, or do anything at this point. Which was exactly the job that the HASOs and the Samukani Special Forces had been assigned to do: Give the governments acting against Ryzzle time to plan and to act. The way to do it? Halt the Rytz advance by knocking out power and communications between the Rytz in Belgrade, and the Rytz at the front. When to do it? It was already happening. Without the President's knowledge, over the three day voting period, two warships and two aircraft carriers had already been placed 30 miles off the eastern shores of Ruzzle by SIS, where tiny pockets of enclaves remained to be conquered. While refraining from attacking, they'd been quietly sitting on the water, watching the events of the conflict unfold. They waited for the Samukani warships to reach their location, and give the green light to prepare to disrupt Rytz military communications.

"My god...." Dima was seated in front of a long table with his 2 remaining generals. The Rytz bombers had arrived moments before, and they started to bomb the city relentlessly to practically raze the city to the ground before the ground forces showed up. "Status on....on the battle?" Dima asked the army general.
His general looked up at the ceiling and back down at the table. "Sir....we.....we have no communications to the outside...we're stuck here until....until..." he slammed his fist on the table. "Until someone from the outside opens the bunker door!"
And so they sat there ,in the bunker that had to TV, no phone line, nothing. Just the sound of the hellfire going on above ground.
The Rutz Navy, which was mostly removed from the action picked up the ships off the coast, and make their way. In total, 12 destroyers and 1 battleship made their way over, stopping several miles away from them and sending them a signal, "Identify." was all the SIS ships would get in several radio transmissions.

"How goes it?" the Czar spoke as his generals walked into the big room and sat.
"Our bombers are decimating Novi-Luka as we speak, and the main thrust is only 4 dozen miles away." a general said.
"We've taken few causalities so far, only around 300 dead and about 4,000 wounded."
"12 of our fighter jets have been damaged, 8 of them shot down when we were taking out their air force, but things in the air have switched over to complete Rytz air supremacy."
Once again, the Czar was pleased.
"The soldiers know what to do regardless." the Czar says. "We've trained them well." he strokes his moustache. "Good work, gentlemen. Away with you all."

Rear Admiral Stephen Herai stepped onto the bridge of the Lazuren, the flagship of the URS Navy's 2nd Fleet. Comprised of the Lazuren aircraft carrier, two other carriers, two destroyers, two battleships, and three submarines, the 2nd Fleet was ordered to deviate from its course in the oceans of central Kennan towards the Rutz coast. Rear Admiral Herai was directly ordered by President Roffgan to join the Hacklet forces. The operation was unofficially dubbed Operation Broken Wing by military leadership.
From the bridge of the Lazuren, Herai gazed out at the vast expanse of water. It was a clear day, the sun glistening off the calm waves. Just a short distance from the 2nd Fleet, the Hacklet ships also floated in the sea. Visibility was in the miles; one could make out the outline of the Rutz coast in the distance.
"Sir," Captain Keralas saluted Herai. "We have finished preparations for radio interference. The Hacklet ships report that they are ready to proceed."
"Good," Herai replied. "Begin radio interference immediately."
"Yes, sir." Captain Keralas began issuing orders to the officers on the bridge as they turned to their consoles. After a few moments, the captain turned back to the admiral. "Interference has been activated. The Hacklets have begun transmission as well."

Arcadian Sea--- The interference waves were to be launched from small 4 cruisers that accompanied Wheeler and Stonecastle, the two destroyers in the Hacklet naval convoy, as well as Cambridge and Milan, the two large aircraft carriers in the small force assigned to disrupt communications between the Rytz and contact the Rutz government. Of course, if the disruption signal was too strong, it could potentially halt any option for contacting the Rutz government.
It was effectively a deal with the devil.
Onboard Cambridge, a private noticed the vessels approaching the small naval convoy at their position on the radar screen flashing in front of him, and waved over Fleet Admiral Charles King: "Sir, we have reports of a series of ships approaching our location. They appear to be of Samukani origin."
"Thank you, private. Do you happen to have any numbers on how many ships they've sent?" King responded.
"Their fleet appears to be composed of 10 vessels, sir. A few aircraft carriers, battleships, and destroyers. No small cruisers." King nodded, and looked out to the south. A few miles behind them, the Samukani 2nd Fleet was approaching. And as soon as he noticed the towering structures onboard the destroyers, the greenlight was given. King walked out to the bridge to relay the command to the rest of the fleet.
Upon arrival, he greeted the captain of the vessel and one of the fleet lieutenants, as they rigidly saluted. "The Samukani fleet has started to jam the airwaves. Lieutenant, relay the command to our four cruisers. Captain, make sure our cruisers are located ahead of us so we can communicate with Lazuren." The lieutenant gave a quick "Yes, sir." and began to work the large radio system on the bridge. No sooner had the lieutenant confirmed the order had the open radio channel to the west turned to static.
However, to the south of the Hacklet-Samukani fleet, a radio transmission reached Cambridge. It simply stated: "Identify". The lieutenant turned to King and stated "Admiral, we've received a radio transmission that arrived just now from the Rutz Navy. It demands we identify ourselves. Would you like to respond, sir?"
"Have you confirmed that they're actually ships of the Rutz Navy?" The lieutenant nodded in response. King looked at the radar screen on the bridge, which confirmed the identity of the ships approaching the combined fleet from the south. "Then yes, I'll respond to the transmission." He took the radio from the lieutenant and spoke into the radio channel, hoping that the Rutz would receive his response:
"This is Fleet Admiral King of the Sixth Fleet of the Hackleberry Islands Navy, onboard HMS Cambridge. Approach our position at your convenience."

"Right then, Prime Minister.", noted the General, and he turned to meet the SMI Agent and the Lieutenant.
"Gentlemen, at this point in time I'd like to welcome to the biggest operation that the Sandwich Territories has conducted in quite some time...Operation Casino Royale."
*Tongue in cheek* "We'll have to take out the czar in a rousing game of poker, sir?"
"Yes, the name is rather...odd, at a first glance, but you'll understand it better once I divulge into details."
*He pauses for a moment, as if to prepare his lungs, and continues*
"Two days from now, the Sandwichian Armed Forces is planned to make a decision on the conflict in Ruzzle, and the Prime Minister has informed me that he suspects the Senate and the Ekklesia will both approve of military intervention in Ruzzle to halt the advance of the Rytz regime. When that is approved, the Sandwich Territories will declare an open state of war between us and Ryzzle. From there, we will be using multiple spec-ops sectors to try and rouse the Rytz in their own lands. You, SMI Alpha Stigma, are in control of the group that is going to be causing quite the commotion behind enemy lines, and you will be escorted by a platoon led by Mr. Strudwick. You may or may not be part of a company; we're still thinking on this one...what do you think, lads?"
"I think we'll be fine in a platoon. How about you, Strudwick?"
"We'll be fine, AS."
"Excellent. We won't be executing anything until we either have a land invasion executed or have the clearance to go in and cause hell. Understood?"
*Together* "Yes, sir."
"You two are free to go for now. After the decision, we'll be calling you both back here with your entire group with you. Be ready."

Today was the day. The government had made up its mind. PM Al Fresco made his way to a podium set up in the Elysium Palace where he would make the revelations of the state known to the region.
"Good morning. Today; people of the Commonwealth, is a date that will go down in history. The Sandwichian government has come to a swift conclusion that the acts committed by the Kingdom of Ryzzle are acts of severe aggression that will not go unpunished. The voices of the people have been heard, and they are that of the government of the Commonwealth as well. Such a nation poses a dangerous threat to the stability of the region and the safety of millions of innocent lives. Therefore, from this point on, we inform the Rytz government that there is now a state of war between our nations."
Already moving towards the coast of Ruzzle was a convoy of guided missile destroyers, nuclear powered aircraft carriers (staying a bit behind, of course), ballistic missile submarines, corvettes, and multiple purpose frigates. (OOC: Don't worry, I'll be coming up with numbers soon, and they will be realistic). In charge of the Sandwichian Soltarian Fleet was Fleet Captain Issac Branson. He was aboard the HMS Worcestershire, and he was ready to connect to the Samukani-Hacklet group already organized there.
"Get me into contact with Fleet Admiral King ASAP, and after that, Captain Keralas. Meanwhile, I'm going to send an offer to whoever the bloody hell is over there and see what's going on."
Meanwhile, behind them, troops and an additional fleet were sailing towards Ruzzle, waiting to be positioned; carrying along with them some special cargo.

Setting: Belgrade, Ryzzle.
The Czar stepped out of the palace, going to the square to start his speech.
"People of the glorious Kingdom. I am here to relay to you that our empire has been declared war upon by The Sandwich Territories." The crowed remained silent. "And so, we shall respond accordingly and declare war on them in return. It is quite obvious that they are doing this in response to our invasion of the north. It is also quite obvious..." his voice trailed away for a moment, and he got pissed. "QUITE OBVIOUS, THAT THE DISGUSTING PEOPLE TO OUR EAST DO NOT UNDERSTAND OUR CULTURE OR CUSTOMS! A SCOURGE ON THE EARTH, THEY ARE! ONE THAT WE WILL NOT BOW TO!!!!" The crowed went absolutely wild. "Every blade of grass to the north, every grain of sand to the south will be defended to the last man and woman!!"
The entire armed forces took an extra day to fully mobilize, the troops not already in Ruzzle that is.
Setting: Outskirts of Novi-Luka, dawn. A few soldiers parked themselves up on a hill overlooking the ruined city. "There she is." "Yup. Contact the group, tell them we've got eyes on the city." "uh-huh."
When they tried contacting them, they'd realize that their radios weren't working.
"Is it the radio?" "Can't be, these are new.." About an hour later, the main battle group assembled along the outskirts. Despite communications being jammed, the group of around 500k soldiers, tanks, and infantry vehicles knew that either way their goal was to get to Novi-Luka and capture it.
By midday, they started the advance into Novi-Luka, where the already battered Rutz forces stood no chance, it was a slaughter. In order to keep communications on, the forward army is using soldiers on dirt bikes and other motorcycles to relay messages back and forth between the armies. After a few runs back and forth, they were driving all across the countryside and savannah.
Along with the messengers came the first large convoys of rocket artillery, artillery, and missile trucks; some that were specialized for ground to sea firing,

(Edit: I lost my original gigantic RP post. So this one is smaller than usual.) - - - Presidential Office - Westminster4:12 Local Time - - - The Presidential Office was packed with people trying to get a glimpse at the news report that'd been airing. Once word got out that the Sandwich Territories had declared war on Ryzzle, the news spread like wildfire.
In an adjoining room, President Hackett, alongside Secretary Barrows (Secretary of Foregin Affairs) and Secretary Newton (Secretary of Defense), had begun a virtual conference with President Roffgan and Secretary Alkotrozz of Samukan, and PM Fresco and King Brian I of the Sandwich Territories. They began to discuss the best strategy to use to take back Ruzzle from the Rytz invaders.
- - - Arcadian Sea5:00 PM Local Time - - - Admiral King had been awaiting a response from the Rutz navy for several days.
He'd begun to wonder if the Rytz military had gotten to them first.
In the middle of waiting for a sign that the Rutz were still out there, he received word that another convoy of ships was fast approaching from the east. He walked out to the observation deck and noticed a series of ships with the Sandwichian flag flying above them. He'd also received orders to communicate with Captain Keralus and Fleet Admiral Branson to help coordiate themselves. But before he descended into the ship's lower decks again, he took one last look southwards, hoping the Rutz were still out there.

OOC: No worries, chillun'. I'll post for Ruzzle right after this one, eh? IC: Images and video from the battle of Novi-Luka were purposely "leaked" to the world by Rytz forces in the city. Despite having communications jammed, the army used messengers on motorbikes to relay messages in a timely fashion, which helped keep everyone in contact. The soldiers assaulted the city, fighting through the war torn city with vicious efficiency. Rutz soldiers were simply too shaken up to really put up resistance; their city was destroyed, moral was low, and most disheartening of all their wives were being killed needlessly. (Wives > Everything else) The Glorious Kingdom Captures Novi-Luka from the Rutz Rebels! The Czar authorized the release of a quick 1 minute video in which Rytz soldiers raised the flag of Ryzzle atop of the Rutz Presidential Building. If the viewer listened closely, he or she could hear the sound of rocket artillery firing in the distance, alongside the occasional tank firing its main cannon. (Think of it like when they raised the Soviet flag in Berlin in WW2)
Now phase 2 of the invasion can begin. The drive to the coast.

Presidents Bunker, in the Presidential Building "Do you think they're here?" Dima asked, messing with his hands since he was so nervous. "I don't think so, our defenses were most strong in the city.." his army general replied. Since they've been held up in the bunker for so long without outside communication, they had no idea that the city was already taken, and no idea that Rytz soldiers were in the floors above them, patiently sifting through the rubble to find the President. "Maybe the other countries have gotten involved already?" Dima asked, unable to control himself. His generals remained silent, looking at the big bunker entrance. They couldn't leave the bunker since it only opens and closes from the outside. Seconds after, they'd hear some yelling from outside, and slowly but surely the bunker door opened up.... Who was on the other side? North of RuzzleAdmittedly, the fleet was a little apprehensive to actually visit the Hackleberry ships with the fear that the Rytz would find them. As soon as the news from Novi-Luka got to them, however, they made their way to the fleet. The foreigners would be presented with some seriously aging ships, from around the 1960s-1980s. Since none of the crew knew what to do, the ships all stayed floating in the water for a bit, not really doing anything.
